Sign Fixing Tips

All lettering uses banner vinyl. A close look will show that it is a softer material and bonds better to the banner than standard vinyls. Thus when you roll it out again after storage, there are no creases and it will look good for a long time.

If you want to change the dates on a banner this can be done with the assistance of a hairdryer, meths and a cloth. However the longer the letters have been on the harder it is to get the glue off. You will save a lot of effort, if you take off redundant dates as soon as you take it down rather than when you come to use it again.

Two tips

Gentle use of a hair dryer makes it a lot easier.

Any adhesive is best cleaned off with meths, otherwise dust will stick to it, with consequent discolouration over time.

Storage of banners

Most damage to banners happens when they are put away safely, simply by what is stored on top of them. It is best to store banners around a tube to avoid creases which have to be got out later. If you do crease a banner, hang it up by both ends at the same time and put a weight (a heavy roll is ideal) in the middle, so as to stretch out any creases.

Hanging of banners

Always keep the banner taut at the top. A sagging banner disgraces both of us. If you are using a wall regularly as a banner site, consider permanent fixings. We supply banner rail, complete with eyelet bolts at 10 euros (stg £6.50) per metre + VAT, for a fast and firm fixing but only for collection. A lath attached to the wall, screws and washers will suffice.

Hanging across the highway is now the subject of a European directive. You need steel wire etc.

In my experience highway authorities do not permit banners more than two feet high to be placed across the highway

Have you considered using banners for:

Hanging inside windows
We can supply the eyelets and suckers 50 cents (35p each) + VAT for a cheap, re-useable and flexible solution to your announcements)

Hanging from lamp posts
We supply the brackets that will carry all your banners all year for just 20 euros (stg £14) top only or 40 euros (stg £28) top and bottom fixing + VAT

For VAT registered organisations in the euro zone,  VAT need not be paid but please include VAT number with order.

Hanging banners out of upstairs windows
Use a dropping window to secure the banner in position. We can make banners to the width of your window.

We can provide banners complete with fittings for car aerial pennants, corner flags, banners on poles or banners on scrolls. We won’t be offended if you come up with something we haven’t thought of. We’ll banner it.
